  • The texts for the eliminations and the final of English Dictation 2006 were written by professor Jack Lonergan from the University of Westminster.

The Dictation is widely promoted by the media both locally and nationwide.

There were about 1500 students taking part in the eliminations held on 28.04.2006 in a great number of schools from our region. It was possible to take part in the eliminations in two ways: in the on-line eliminations, by listening to the text that was broadcasted by Radio PiK; or in the secondary and high schools which decided to cooperate.

We would like to express our great gratitude to all school teachers participating and helping with the eliminations!

The competition winners will receive valuable prices : two two-week English courses in the UK founded by International House London and Torquay schools and one two-week Spanish course in Spain founded by International House Madrid. The prices include free travel and accommodation. The value of each price is around 1000 pounds! We thought, it would be interesting to introduce the Spanish course as one of the main prices, as an alternative to English courses.

The final, for the best contestants, will be held on 3rd June 2006 in Toruń, at 10 am in aula 26 of the Physics Department of Mikołaj Kopernik University, Grudziądzka 5
